About

The Full Story

Music has been my passion since a very young age. Playing "drums" on pillows and teddybears to kasette tapes or whatever was on the radio (yes it was before CD's really blew up, no piracy mp3s or streaming either). My parents had a vinyl player in the livingroom, but mainly with older records that didn't interest me too much. At around 10 years old I got a classical guitar from my aunt, and I was hooked instantly.

But it all really started in my teens, playing in different bands and dreaming big on playing live and touring the world. I remember the first European tour I was part of back in 2011 with my old band "Goddamn". Playing sold out shows every night as support for "Six Feet Under" from the US was a dream come true for a young guitarplayer with high ambitions. At the same time I had a side-project that later became my main band, still active and touring, known as "Once Awake". As the main songwriter for the band I started to get more and more into recording and mixing, and soon the demos I made became finished mixes, learning as I went. I had already done recordings and mixes for some local bands in my hometown Bergen, not knowing too much about the technical side of things, but with a passion and love for making music sound as best I could with the gear I had.

With information on the internet growing I started studying more seriously. Online courses and especially when URM Academy came around I was hooked. There you could "sit on the shoulder "of big mixing engineers while they mixed famous metal and rock songs from scratch to finished product. Learning different techniques from the best in the buisness was a gamechanger for sure.

Fast forward to today after doing several tours in Europe and the UK, even Russia (way before the war) and have been lucky to meet and get to know so many talented musicians and great people along the way. I buildt this studio in 2018, with my own hands (after several other previous  studios), and finally got to build it in the way I wanted. It's a big space with high ceilings and enough room to do many different things, very flexible for recording anything from a full band to individual musicians. Mixing is an artform and no mixers sound exactly the same. Have a listen to some of the work I've done, and if you like it don't hesitate to contact me.
